Many years ago I downloaded Java, a program used mainly for web browsers. Well A few weeks ago I again had a need to download Java and almost immediately my leg started to shake. See, every time I go to the sun.com web site, I find my computer expertise does not help me in any way to find what I need.
I am aware that most people who use Java most likely also program in it. Those of who that do not, or have not for many years like myself, find the sun.com web site to be the most unfriendly to visitors. What really troubles me is they have the technology to know who is visiting their web site. This information could easily narrow the number of different options based on the operating system the client is coming from.
The second thing Sun.com needs to do is remove needless clicks on their web site. I swear I clicked 2 dozen things to find what I was looking for. Perhaps they are too proud to write a web script in JavaScript or use Flash to ease the navigation process. What ever the deal is, they seriously need to address their navigation problems and fast.
They need a browser called ‘sun screen‘, that will filter the crap you have to go through when you visit sun.com!!!
Yes, if you smoke you can cut your risk of lung cancer by eating lots of fruits and vegetables.

But wait, a 31 year study has found that cutting back on the amount of cigarettes you smoke decreases your risk of lung cancer.

This is all fine and dandy, but what the hell is going on here? I think these are examples of data manipulation. Let me make an example:
Title: Deaths cut in half by doubling highway speeds
Well yes, research spanned over 31 years has discovered that by driving faster and getting to where you need to go will result in less likely of death in driving. Wow, who would have thought that by decreasing the amount of time I spend on roads cuts my chances of getting into an accident by 1/2. I think I will start speeding right away! NOT!!!
THINK!!!
The news press sometimes pisses me off with the obvious. At least to me, when you tell me you loose your milk when you spill it on the ground does not need to be reported.
I bet money a lot of people who smoke and/or support smoking are all going to feel justified. I am sure the end result will be some people who stopped smoking start cause they found out if they don’t smoke as much they are less likely to get lung cancer. Not that this should have been obvious already but the way it was reported now implies a positive to something that should not be.
As far as fruits and vegetables, get with the health program. They proved a long time ago that the best things you can eat are fruits and vegetables. Perhaps they forgot to take into consideration in their study that the people who did not eat fruits and vegetables ate smoked chicken, turkey, ate more food cooked from a charcoal grill, etc… Perhaps fruits and vegetables help strengthen a bodys ability to withstand the harmful chemicals that cigarette smoke have, but no one ever should imply you can protect yourself by eating something else.
STOP SMOKING!
My Fiancee and I tried Don Pablo’s for the second time this year. After two attempts I have come to the conclusion that Mexican Restaurants should not be made into large cookie cutter corporations. The best way to describe the food at Don Pablo’s: editable with only the look of Mexican. Their hamburger expanded menu may be the biggest sign of their failing Mexican menu.
I am not an authority on Restaurants, particularly Mexican, but I have had the pleasure to frequent a few authentic Mexican restaurants and I have concluded that the best Mexican food you will find will be at the most back of the woods home ran Mexican restaurant.
My Plugs
So long Don Pablo’s. I hope you find your niche, but it isn’t Mexican food that is for sure!
I was wondering the other day about secret agents. After some thinking, I came up with a lot of questions.
See, I wonder first off, if you are a secret agent or spy, what kind of diet do you have to follow. I know a diet is important in order for one to function, but normal people such as myself can get away with eating crap and living with some gas for the afternoon. A spy on the other hand, may blow their cover, literally!
Now what if you snore and you were supposed to steak out somewhere. Again, this could just blow your cover if you fell asleep. Now, I know your not supposed to sleep but I am sure there could be situations where you can lay low till the morning as long as you keep quiet your pretty safe. That’s where the snoring could ruin it for you.
Finally, are there special pills you take to stop farting? I bet there are. I also bet the existence of such pills are covered up by the government. Joking!
Our President uses a method of management called Macromanagement. He picks people to run different aspects of our Government and then leaves the decision making up to them. This is most likely the most effective way to run a large business, organization or government. But there is one aspect missing in this management style. A fast and firm reaction for failure.
I have seen a lot of things that have been done wrong for the past few years. The latest has me boiling with anger and tears.
Why is our system for the safety and security of all citizens so slow? Is this how fast our military moves for homeland security issues? What if a bunch of small boats full of rebels floated up the Mississippi River and invaded our country? Would the Military take 3 days to mobilize?
I herd the argument tonight that the City and State should have been responsible for this and they should have planned better. True, they could have done a lot of things, such as renting a facility two states North to house emergency supplies, food and trucks that way they could have emergency equipment brought into an area within 24 hours. But doesn’t that duplicate the efforts that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is supposed to provide for us in the first place?
I fear we are being governed with the reluctance to admit mistakes. We cannot make our society better if we do not learn from these mistakes. Reaction to failure first requires acknowledgment of the problem. I was quite excited to hear for the first time on Friday that the President admitted the hurricane relief effort was not enough.
I hope he takes the next step of macromangement and starts firing the people he appointed who were responsible for this slow mobilization.
