Dog Ate My Oatmeal Cookies!

Ty Oatmeal CookiesLast night, Heather and I went out to dinner for Valentines Day. When we got home, the dog was extra hyper running all over the house. So a few hours go by and I went to the kitchen to get an oatmeal cookie. They’re gone! I searched around the kitchen thinking I put them somewhere else. I ended up finding them in the living room with only a few crumbs remaining. These cookies were in the new packaging with the rip away top, somehow Ty knew how to pull back the top and get into the packaging. There wasn’t a rip/tear with his teeth anywhere. That explains why he was so hyper.

So this morning, I woke up to the most awful stink. It’s the dog’s farts! I took him on his morning walk and everything came out as normal. Then 3 hours later, the dog is barking, biting my pant leg and pull me away from the computer. So I took him out, and within minutes he did his business. Man it was nasty. Luckily it went on a sheet of snow, I just scooped it all up with the snow and put it in the bag.

Now here is the funny part. After he was done, he ran across the sidewalk where there was a lot of snow, backed up slightly, then sat right down with his butt directly in the snow (pictured above). What ever that oatmeal did, it either made his butt itchy or on fire. Never the less, it was the funniest thing I’ve seen. And he kept getting up and doing it again!

Unfortunately, I don’t think he is done, He still has gas and is acting strange. Hopefully this taught him never to eat my cookies.

Movies Music

Movie Juno and band Rose Hips

Two topics to talk about, the movie Juno and the rock band Rose Hips.

Last night Heather and I saw a screening for the movie Juno. I’m not going to talk about the plot of the movie, if you want to learn more, go to the IMDB page.

If you’re a Nirvana/Grunge generation child like myself, you will appreciate a lot of the dialog in the movie. Older folks will not get many of the jokes unless they’ve kept up with the current lingo and music. Otherwise, it’s a pretty good movie for anyone to watch.

Rose Hips

On the way home from the movie, I turned on the FM instead of listening to a podcast, listening into CD101 (modern rock station in Columbus). I found myself listening to a song that had the same kind of sound as Hum. I was utterly surprised near the end of the song to hear a woman’s voice. Today I checked out their myspace page, listened to 4 of their songs and sure enough, they sound a lot like Hum.

I wonder if they’re influenced by Hum and other 90’s modern rock or if they stumbled upon the sound on their own. Either way, I’m a fan now.

DRM Free music – It is hard to find new stuff

I got a iTunes gift certificate the other day and decided to buy some DRM Free music. For those who do not know, DRM is a type of protection that most sold music has embedded into the files so you are limited to how you can use them. In some cases, DRM protected music prevents you from converting the audio file to the format that your portable mp3 player supports. It is a real hassle. Plus my attitude is, if I pay for it and I have to manage storing it on devices I have to pay for, then I better be able to do what ever I want with it.

So if you are looking for DRM free music on iTunes, you need to figure out how to enable iTunes Plus. I can’t explain it very well because I barely figured it out. Once I got it turned on, I was able to view albums and artists who are in the iTunes Plus category. Unfortunately they try to help you by only listing the top 20, which didn’t help me at all. I have unique tastes. So after spending an hour Saturday night and 1/2 hour today, I finally found some DRM free music I can buy.

Today I bought Huey Lewis & The News Greatest Hits. Besides that, I also found the following artists who are part of the iTunes plus deal, and I recommend that others purchase this music to support the sale of DRM free music.

  • Al Green (Greatest Hits – my next purchase)
  • Beastie Boys
  • Interpol
  • Yellowcard
  • The Kooks
  • Lenny Kravitz
  • Chemical Brothers
  • Fatboy Slim
  • Daft Punk
  • Coldplay
  • Wings
  • Pink Floyd
  • Billy Idol
  • David Bowie

Is there anything DRM free that you like?
